Message from Jacala Mexican Restaurant
1949 was the year the first restaurant opened. They started making the original puffy tacos. Located on Wilson, it only seated 16 people at a time. After a few months of business, Adel's brother Jimmy wanted them to open a restaurant and let him run it. They opened this location and the dream happened. In the next couple of years eight restaurants were opened.Rudolph and Adel decided to keep only one restaurant open and expand into three dining rooms, an indoor patio, and also an outdoor courtyard. It is the oldest originally owned Mexican restaurant in San Antonio. You will always find at least one member of the family's four generations around. Thanks to you, our loyal customers who are now bringing their second and third generations in, and to our new customers who are just beginning to build the same memories.
