Message from McEwen's On Monroe
Looking for a truly unique dining experience? Look no further! McEwen's on Monroe promises exciting food, great service and an atmosphere that is as unique as the menu.

Nine people came through the door when McEwen's on Monroe opened for lunch on November 27, 1997. Mac Edwards cooked and Cindy Edwards waited on the meager lunch crowd. At the time, it seemed like the culmination of years of hard work, but in fact, it was only the beginning of a lot more hard work. We invite you, gentle diner, to come experience the results of this labor of love.

The original restaurant was built in the space vacated by the old Red Rooster restaurant and consisted of just the dining room and the kitchen. The bar area (an instant hit) was added in 1999 and then the wine cellar was added in 2001. The decor has been culled from the funkiest antique shops in the South and artfully arranged by Cindy. Cindy also arranges for the constantly changing array of local art on the walls.

We are proud that our food has been the subject of universally excellent reviews from such august publications as the New York Times, Bon Appetite, Memphis Magazine, the Memphis Flyer and the Commercial Appeal. Our cuisine is called Southern Fusion, which we define as a mixture of everything from the Mason-Dixon line to Antarctica. Get ready to cheat on your diet, because our portions are ample and once you start you won't want to stop. As Mac likes to say, "You never have to go home and have a bowl of cereal after eating here."

We would like to thank everyone who has supported us since that slow November lunch in 1997 and invite those of you who have not experienced McEwen's on Monroe to come see what you've been missing. We will continue to work hard to bring you the finest dining experience in an atmosphere stripped of pretension for as long as you will have us. Come in, relax, order a glass of wine and enjoy.
