El Pollo Grill branched out to a second, larger restaurant located at Market Creek Plaza, near the corner of Market Street and Euclid Avenue, just south of Hwy. 94.
Enjoy the same great-tasting, authentic south-of-the-border fare in a location that's easy-to-reach, easy-to-park, and easy to enjoy. Art lovers will really enjoy this location, that tops off great food with great atmosphere and the beauty of a hand-painted dome (link) filled with images from life in Jalisco, the Mexican state that's home to the Lopez family, owners of El Pollo Grill. Are you ready to lick your fingers and smack your lips in delight? Because the place I am writing about here is one of those fantastic little casual places where the price is amazingly low and the food is simply awesome. Let me introduce you to El Pollo Grill in Lemon Grove. Here you'll find delicious flame broiled chicken and a bunch of great Mexican specialties, the kind of food you'll get addicted to and where you will likely join the growing list of people who have become regulars. This is a mom and son operation that first started seventeen years ago by Constanza and her late husband Rafael Lopez, whose son Victor now helps run the place. The business thrived from the beginning, and seven months ago Victor and his mom moved to a bigger spot a few blocks away. You walk up to the counter and order, they call your order for pick up and you are set for a great mail. The top item is the healthy flame broiled chicken (big plump birds that have been marinated in fruit juices and seasonings ala Sinaloa style). The best deal is the Whole Chicken Special that includes charro beans, rice, corn or flour tortillas and salsa. The price for a meal that can easily feed four is $13.95. Chicken is also sold in half or quarter portion meals, or a la carte. |
